Frequently Asked Questions
Why do people go to therapy?
The short answer is that people come to therapy for all kinds of reasons. In my practice, I most frequently see people who are struggling with difficult life transitions, relationship challenges, emotion regulation, depression, and anxiety.
What therapeutic approach do you use?
In my experience, there is no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy. My approach would depend on your unique life experience, where you are, and what you're looking for. While my practice is primarily psychodynamic, I incorporate strategies from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and other interventions when appropriate.
Do you work with children?
I do individual therapy primarily with adults and teenagers age 13 and up. While I do meet individually with children 7-12, the purpose is primarily to facilitate communication between children and their parents or caregivers, and to help parents understand and address their child's unique needs. I also provide parent coaching for parents of younger children, as well as individual and couples therapy. I applaud parents who come in to work on their own challenges; they are giving a great and powerful gift to their children.
Do you accept health insurance?
I am currently in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO. If you have a different insurance carrier, you may still be able to use out-of-network benefits. Consult your insurance carrier for information about your benefits.
Do you offer sliding scale rates?
I offer clients the opportunity to request sliding scale rates based on financial need. I accept these requests on a case-by-case basis.
