Welcome! I'm Ann. I started my own clinical therapy practice, Riverbend Counseling, in 2019 in order to provide accessible, ethical, and effective therapy to my current and future clients. I've been a therapist for almost 10 years. The photo to the left here was taken when I was a brand new therapist, full of excitement and hope for the world! I really ought to have a new picture taken. But believe it or not, I still am full of excitement and hope, and I still have that sweater! Although I may have slightly less energy after those 10 years, I'm far more confident and better equipped to help. I've provided thousands of hours of therapy, adjusting my approach as I learn more and experience what does and doesn't work. I've also gained much through my own therapy, and in life experience.
Finding a therapist is not an easy task! I know from personal experience that it can take a few tries to find the right fit, and it's very important to find the right fit-- someone you feel comfortable with, and someone you believe is competent enough to actually help you. I'd like to encourage you to set up a call to discover if we would be a good fit to work together. I'm happy to talk to you and help however I can, even if it's a referral elsewhere. And I can usually tell from the first call who I will be able to help, and who would do better with another therapist.
Therapy really can change your life, if you find the right help, and put in the work. I would be so honored to help on that journey.
